Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about contact lenses, their usage, and care.

Most people can wear contact lenses, but they may not be suitable for everyone. Factors such as certain eye conditions, allergies, or environments with excessive dust or chemicals may affect your ability to wear contacts comfortably. A comprehensive eye examination by our optometrists will determine if contact lenses are right for you and which type would be most suitable for your eyes and lifestyle.

Most people adapt to contact lenses within a few days. Initially, you may feel a slight awareness of the lenses on your eyes, but this sensation typically disappears as you get used to them. If discomfort persists beyond a week, please consult with our eye care professionals as you may need a different lens type or prescription adjustment.

Unless you have been prescribed extended wear or continuous wear lenses specifically designed for overnight use, you should not sleep with contact lenses in. Sleeping in regular contact lenses can increase the risk of eye infections and corneal complications. Always remove your lenses before sleeping unless otherwise directed by your eye care professional.

It's not recommended to wear contact lenses while swimming, showering, or in hot tubs. Water can harbor microorganisms that may cause serious eye infections. If water contacts your lenses, remove them as soon as possible, clean and disinfect them thoroughly, or discard them if they are daily disposables. Consider wearing prescription swimming goggles as an alternative.

Daily disposable lenses are worn once and discarded, offering maximum convenience and hygiene as they require no cleaning or storage. Monthly lenses can be worn for up to 30 days with proper daily cleaning and storage. While daily lenses are typically more expensive per day, they eliminate the need for cleaning solutions and cases. Monthly lenses are more cost-effective but require more maintenance. Your lifestyle, budget, and eye health needs will determine which option is best for you.
